We're overjoyed to announce that we've adopted a baby boy named Jadon who was born in Virginia on January 8, 2012. Your participation in Operation Firefly has made it possible for us to bring our son home! We've named him Jadon because his name means "grateful" (Nehemiah 3:7).
Jadon's Story
Jadon's birth mom, a college student, met with us two times in December, and chose us to be part of her adoption plan. We were awfully nervous at those first two meetings, but God gave us an instant connection and trust with the birth mom. The day after he was born, we met him at the hospital and it was love at first sight! The following day we met with his birth mom and her family in a deeply emotional time of prayer for her and for Jadon. Then, an hour later, we brought him home.
According to Virginia law, we were his foster parents for the first 10 days, a time period when the birth mom still has the right to parent, or stick with the adoption plan. By God's grace, the 10 day period came and went on Wednesday, January 18, at 5 pm, and went, and we became Jadon's forever family. Adopting him reminds us about the gospel, that God adopted us into his family, through the saving grace of Christ"who came to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons"(Galatians 4:5).
Grateful To God and You
With tears of joy, we thank you for your prayers, contributions, and encouragement that enabled us to adopt this sweet little baby boy as our own. God's grace has clearly been at work in Jadon's adoption. Here are several reasons for praise:
With tears of joy, we thank you for your prayers, contributions, and encouragement that enabled us to adopt this sweet little baby boy as our own. God's grace has clearly been at work in Jadon's adoption. Here are several reasons for praise:
- God provided over $25,000 (the cost of the adoption) through over 125 contributors who gave toward Operation Firefly.
- The day after 100% of the funds came in, we got the call that a birth mom wanted to meet with us about becoming part of the adoption plan for her baby. What timing!
- On the day we took him home, the birth mom's attending nurse was a woman who had adopted. Hospital staff can sometimes make or break an adoption, but in our case we've been told that the nurse spent time talking with the birth mother and celebrated her choice of adoption.
- Jadon's birth mom has become an advocate for choosing life and for adoption at her college through this experience.
- The Sunday Jadon was born, another family at our church arrived back from China with a little girl they adopted from an orphanage there. Adoption is truly a work God is doing at our local church.
Above all, we give great credit and praise for our adoption to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think…to him be glory forever and ever" (Ephesians 3:20-21).
More To Come At This Blog
You may still contribute toward our adoption if you'd like. The funds that go toward the adoption agency have been raised. Additional funds that come in will help cover a couple thousand dollars of attorney fees to finalize our adoption.
And we'll be blogging more over the coming weeks to give you a glimpse of the recent whirlwind weeks of our adoption, where God brought everything together to bring our son home. We hope this web site will be a resource to those considering adoption and that our adoption story will be a reminder of God's adopting love through the gospel.

Praise the Lord! I cried a few tears of joy when i read this..
