September Update

It's been too long since we've updated this blog!

July 4th Fundraising Goal Update
Since our July 4th goal to raise the rest of our needed funds, we've raised nearly all of the $25,000 we need towards our adoption. We are only short $3,500. We've applied for a few grants through various organizations and by the end of the year should find out whether these will go through. We are still accepting funds, if you feel led to give.

A little bit of what we've been up to...
Skyline Drive
We're staying plenty busy while waiting for "the phone call" that will let us know we've been matched with a potential son or daughter.

Travel
Since this spring, we've traveled off and on, including trips to see our families and taking random day trips to see places including the scenic Great Falls Park and Skyline Drive, the Frederick Douglass home and Philadelphia. Earlier this year, as some of you may remember, we found a small flood in our kitchen after which time we spent 31 days in a hotel. Well, we racked up some hotel points and have appreciated using our hotel bonus points in OBX (a couple months before Hurricane Irene) and Charlottesville, Virginia. And we're planning a short trip to Richmond in October!

Family
In July, we hung out with Jonathan's parents and extended family at their annual camping site in PA. A month later, Jonathan's brother visited. He is once again a resident of the USA after living in the UK for the past several years. So it was nice to catch up with him on his way to his new venture in New England.

Christy's family recently visited; we promptly put them to work (which they didn't seem to mind!). Dad painted a lovely tree mural on our nursery/office wall (baby gets to share a room with our Mac computers for a while :) and my mom sewed a new cover for a baby high chair. We can't wait to show off their handiwork to our new son or daughter! :)

Grandparents at work! :)

  1. I think it's fantastic that you're choosing to adopt a baby. There are so many wonderful little babies in need of loving healthy homes and I know you two will make great parents. I'm new to the Grace Church family but look forward to your updates on growing your family. :)
