Shout-Out for Bethany Christian Services

We'd like to dedicate this post to Bethany Christian Services as a thanks for their support and expertise throughout the entire adoption journey. Bethany has been around since 1944 and is the largest adoption agency in the U.S. We certainly felt confident resting in their knowledge to lead us through every step of the way. We'd like to share a little about our experience with this wonderful agency.

Victoria and Rachel
Bethany's Staff
Victoria, our adoption counselor who's an adoptive parent herself, prayed, laughed, cried and rejoiced with us during the highs and lows of the entire process. She continues to provide insightful advice as we maintain contact with Jadon's birth mom and as we complete post-adoption visits.

When we met Rachel and Jadon's birth mom, there was no doubt the two of them share a special relationship. Rachel spent countless hours with Jadon's birth mom. She wisely helped lead the conversation when we met Jadon's birth mom and lovingly supported her through the process.

Adoptive and birth parents are eligible to receive ongoing counseling through their adoption social worker to help them work through the challenges of choosing adoption from a biblical perspective. We are grateful for Bethany's highly trained, compassionate, biblically-grounded staff and social workers who benefit adoptive families and birth parents.

Care Group for Adoptive Families
Last year, a family who adopted two kids through Bethany started care groups in all three Bethany offices in Virginia. The care group, called SWAP (Sharing Wisdom with Adoptive Parents) includes families who've adopted and are waiting to adopt and meets on a monthly basis. The friendships and prayer support from our group gave us hope and practical insight during our wait; and more recently we all rejoiced over our little Jadon and precious Scharleen, who were adopted exactly one month apart! We can't wait to rejoice with other SWAP friends as God blesses their families with children!

Bethany Values Their Families
When we went to the hospital in Charlottesville to meet Jadon, both our family and Jadon's birth mom were given a hand-knitted blanket and matching teddy bears. We were also given a large bag of newborn clothes and baby supplies. We were touched to know that people in our community had donated these items to Bethany to bless our newly expanded family.

We praise God that Bethany exists to enable women to choose life-giving options for their little ones while also providing support to families who hope to expand their families by adoption. God-willing, we hope to adopt through Bethany Christian Services again!
